In the first quarter of 2016, newly installed PV generation capacity was 7.14 GW, of which 6.17 GW of PV power plants, and 970 MW distributed PV。Cumulative installed PV generation capacity reached 50.31 GW, an increase of 52% year-on-year, of which 43.29 GW of PV power plants, 7.03 GW of distributed PV。In Q1, PV power generation was 11.8 TWh, an increase of 48% year-on-year。Total nationwide curtailment of PV was about 1.9 TWh, mainly in Gansu, Xinjiang and Ningxia. In Gansu, curtailment was 840 GWh; a curtailment rate of 39%;In Xinjiang (including XPCC), PV curtailment was 760 GWh, a curtailment rate of 52%;In Ningxia curtailment was 210 GWh, or a curtailment rate of 20%。

In Q1, the pattern of PV power generation changed。Newly installed PV generation capacity exceeded 1 GW in North China, East China, Central China and South China, at 1.5 GW, 1.31 GW, 1.3 GW and 1.04 GW, respectively. Provinces with more than 500 MW of newly installed capacity included:Yunnan 940 MW, Shandong 880 MW, Xinjiang 710 MW, Shaanxi 600 MW, Anhui 580 MW, Zhejiang 530 MW and Jiangxi 520 MW。Cumulative PV capacity in North China, East China, Central China and South China reached 25.6 GW, already exceeding the 23.64 GW of installed capacity in the Northwest。Provinces in the Central and Eastern regions with cumulative installed capacity of more than 1 GW of PV include:Jiangsu 4.4 GW, Hebei 2.27 GW, Shandong 2.21 GW, Zhejiang 2.17 GW, Anhui 1.79 GW, Shanxi 1.22 GW。For details of construction of PV power generation capacity in different provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) see the Annex。
